The Phone (2) has finally been unveiled, putting an end to months of anticipation and speculation. This new device from Nothing showcases significant improvements over its predecessor, leaving smartphone enthusiasts excited.
At first glance, the Phone (2) may appear similar to its predecessor, the Phone (1), but it now boasts a rounded back, enhancing its ergonomic design for a more comfortable grip. Additionally, the Glyph interface has received an update, featuring 11 segmented LED strips with a total of 33 LED lighting zones. These LEDs offer a range of new possibilities for notifications, including volume control and timer indicators.
One notable development is that Nothing is opening up its Glyph interface SDK and API to developers. This move is expected to unlock even more innovative and creative applications in the future, as developers explore the full potential of the Glyph interface.
The Phone (2) sports a 6.7-inch LTPO OLED display with FHD+ resolution, delivering vibrant visuals. With a refresh rate ranging from 1Hz to 120Hz, users can expect smooth scrolling and animations. The centered punch hole cutout houses a 32MP front-facing camera equipped with a Sony IMX615 sensor, allowing for stunning selfies and supporting 1080p video recording at 60fps.
On the rear, the Phone (2) features a primary camera with a Sony IMX890 sensor boasting a massive 50MP resolution. With OIS and EIS image stabilization, along with updated HDR and Motion Capture modes, users can capture exceptional photos and videos. The 50MP ultrawide camera employs the same Samsung JN1 sensor as its predecessor, but now comes with Advanced HDR capabilities, further enhancing the photography experience.
Powering the Phone (2) is the Snapdragon 8 + Gen 1 chipset, replacing the SD 778G+ found in the Phone (1). This powerful processor ensures smooth performance and efficient multitasking. The battery has been upgraded to 4,700 mAh, providing ample power to keep the device running throughout the day. Wired charging speeds have been increased to 45W, while wireless charging remains at 15W.
On the software front, the Phone (2) runs on Nothing OS 2.0, which is based on Android 13. This software update introduces new widgets, theme colors, folder layouts, and illustrated covers, enhancing the overall user experience.
The Phone (2) is available in white and dark grey colors, catering to different style preferences. It comes in three variants: 8/128GB, 12/256GB, and 12/512GB. The prices for these configurations start at $599/£579/€679 for the 8/128GB model, $699/£629/€729 for the 12/256GB model, and $799/£699/€849 for the top-of-the-line 12/512GB model.
Pre-orders for the Phone (2) begin today, and open sales are scheduled for July 17 via nothing.tech. In India, the prices are set at INR 44,999 (8/128GB), INR 49,999 (12/256GB), and INR 54,999 (12/512GB) respectively. Open sales in India are expected to commence on July 21.
