Honor Magic 5 Ultimate debuts in China
This year, the Honor brand shined at the MWC in Barcelona, where it globally presented the Magic 5 series phones. There were three models, but now the Honor Magic 5 Ultimate model has been added. However, this phone is exclusive to the Chinese market and is essentially an upgraded version of the Magic 5 Pro. An important improvement is the use of a unique silicon-carbon battery and C1 RF network chip . The manufacturer presented both the battery and the new chip on paper a few days ago. But let's see what the ultimate phone has to offer.
DESIGN AND DISPLAY OF THE HONOR MAGIC 5 ULTIMATE PHONE
What catches your eye right away is the design of the Honor Magic 5 Ultimate phone. It is different from the other models in the line. The front panel is curved and in its upper left corner we see an oval "hole" for the dual front camera. The display is covered with nano-ceramic glass, which increases the resistance against falling up to ten times. The rear panel is also curved and dominated by a large oval main camera module. Located in the center of the upper third of the back, it is convex and a vertical raised band extends below it to the lower part of the panel.
The display as such is an OLED type with LTPO technology. The diagonal of the screen is 6.81 inches, the resolution is 2848 × 1312 pixels, and the dynamic refresh rate ranges from 1 Hz to 120 Hz. There is HDR10+ support, 2160 Hz PWM dimming and IMAX Enhanced certification.
OTHER SPECIFICATIONS
The Honor Magic 5 Ultimate premium phone is powered by the flagship Snapdragon 8 Gen2 processor. It is paired with 16 GB of RAM and 512 GB of internal storage. Connectivity is represented by 5G SA/NSA, dual 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 6 802.11ax (2.4 GHz/5 GHz) 2×2 MIMO, Bluetooth 5.2, GPS, AGPS, GLONASS, BeiDou, Galileo, USB-C and NFC. The fingerprint sensor is integrated into the display. The manufacturer also added resistance according to IP68 certification and dual stereo speakers. The operating system is Android 13 with Magic UI 7.1 superstructure.
Now we get to the improvements already mentioned. The first of them is the proprietary C1 RF network chip, which has an optimized algorithm and thanks to which it can handle reception of a very weak signal. Another innovation is a silicon-carbon battery with a capacity of 5450 mAh and a higher energy density. The battery supports 66W wired charging as well as 50W wireless charging.
PHOTO EQUIPMENT, PRICE AND AVAILABILITY
The front camera is dual and a 12 MP sensor and a 3D sensor to capture depth of field. The main camera is triple with a primary 50 MP sensor, a 50 MP wide-angle lens and a 50 MP periscopic telephoto lens with 100x digital zoom, 3.5x optical zoom and OIS. Both the front and rear cameras support 4K video recording.
Honor Magic 5 Ultimate is coming to the Chinese market in Elegant Black and Burning Orange colors, pre-orders are already running, sales start on March 10/March. The price is set at 6,699 yuan, which translates to roughly $966.
