MediaTek launches Kompanio 1300T chip for next gen tablets

MediaTek has announced the launch of the Kompanio 1300T SoC for high-end tablets, Chromebooks, and ARM-powered laptops. The Kompanio 1300T is a 6 nm part that resembles the Dimensity 1200 SoC in quite a few specifications. Additionally, the company also announced the T750 5G CPE chipset for use in equipment such as routers and access points.

It’s flagship-grade 5G, multimedia, AI and gaming technologies empower device makers to deliver a new era of ultra-portable mobility in tablets, 2-in-1’s, laptops and other novel form factors that are ideal for office use, streaming entertainment, online education, games, photography, filmmaking and much more.

Combined with MediaTek's 5G UltraSave power-saving enhancements, the platform can automatically adjust power consumption and other configurations based on a device's network and data transmission quality to extend battery life.

The MediaTek Kompanio 1300T is built on the TSMC 6 nm process. The company hasn't detailed the exact specifications of the CPU but said that it features high-performance ARM Cortex-A78 cores and power-efficient Cortex-A55 cores. Additionally, the Kompanio 1300T also sports a nine-core Mali-G77 MC9 GPU. This is an upgrade from the Kompanio 1200's Mali-G77 MC5. Also available is an APU for accelerating AI application performance
