Red Magic 8 Pro and Magic 8 Pro Plus are here
Gaming phones have gained their place in the market quite quickly, and many manufacturers have at least one piece in their portfolio that falls into the "gaming" category. But then there are also brands that specialize in the production of gaming machines, and among them is the Red Magic brand. It already has a decent line of such phones on its account, and yesterday it expanded it with two more models. The manufacturer announced their launch a few days ago , and today the Red Magic 8 Pro and Magic 8 Pro Plus models are already in the world . Therefore, we will see how they are doing with the specifications.
The appearance of the Red Magic 8 Pro and Magic 8 Pro Plus phones leaves no doubt that they are gaming machines. The phones have a flat display as well as a back panel and are square with slightly rounded corners. The bezels around the screen are symmetrical and very narrow. The main camera module is placed vertically in the center of the upper part of the back. Both models go on the market in two versions with a classic and a transparent back panel. The manufacturer also added the largest 3D VC cooling with a total volume of 2068 mm³ that Red Magic phones ever had. In addition, the usable area of the display will be increased by the front camera, which is located under the screen. And mobile game players will certainly appreciate the fast game buttons with a frequency of 520 Hz, 3 microphones and a 3.5 mm audio jack.
Both the Red Magic 8 Pro and the Magic 8 Pro Plus have a 6.8-inch BOE OLED display with a resolution of 2480 x 1116 pixels and a refresh rate of 120 Hz. The screen supports a sampling frequency of 960 Hz, 10-bit color depth and 100% DCI-P3 color gamut. The brightness reached up to 1300 nits and we also find 1440 HZ PWM dimming.
Other parameters of both models are also quite similar. Both the Red Magic 8 Pro and the Pro Plus version are powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen2 processor. So both phones have performance to give away. The chipset is paired with 8/12/16 GB of RAM and 128/256/512 GB of internal storage. One of the memory versions even has 16 GB of RAM and 1 TB of internal memory. There are also linear dual stereo speakers with lossless sound and a low latency of 48ms. Connectivity is represented by 5G NSA /SA, dual 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 6E 802.11 ax (2.4 GHz/5 GHz/6 GHz), Bluetooth 5.3, GPS (L1/L5), GLONASS, USB-C, NFC and 3, 5 mm audio jack. The fingerprint sensor is integrated into the display.
What makes the phones different is the battery capacity and charging performance. The first of them, i.e. the Pro model, has a battery with a capacity of 6000 mAh and support for fast charging with a power of 80 W. The Pro Plus model received a 5000 mAh battery, but the charging power increased to 165 W. The operating system in both cases is Android 13 with a game superstructure Redmagic OS 6.0.
The photo equipment is the same for both phones. The front camera, which lies below the display, has a resolution of 16 MP. The main camera is triple with a primary 50 MP Samsung GN5 sensor with a size of 1/1.57 inch. It was supplemented by an 8 MP wide-angle lens with a 120° field of view and a 2 MP macro lens.
The phones of the Red Magic 8 Pro series go to the market in the color black. They are in pre-order status since yesterday, sales in the Chinese market start on December 28th. The prices of individual memory versions are as follows:
