Dimensity 9200 is officially here
Like every year around this time, two of the biggest processor manufacturers, Qualcomm and MediaTek, launch their new flagship processors. These will usually appear in phones either at the end of the year, or to a greater extent in the coming year. MediaTek has been paying a lot of attention to its flagship chipsets lately, so they are basically comparable to the same Qualcomm processors. It looks similar this year as well, and it looks like the newly introduced Dimensity 9200 flagship processor will be a strong competitor to Qualcomm's upcoming Snapdragon 8 Gen2 .
In order not to theorize, let's see what main specifications the Dimensity 9200 chipset received. Perhaps the most important thing is that it is built on TSMC's second generation 4nm manufacturing process. This production technology has improved heat dissipation, so even with maximum CPU performance, the phones should not heat up too much. The manufacturer also claims that it has also managed to reduce power consumption by up to 25% compared to the predecessors of the new chipset.
The Dimensity 9200 is also the first processor to use an ARM Cortex-X3 main core based on the ARMv9 architecture clocked at 3.05 GHz. There are also three ARM Cortex-A715 cores clocked at 2.85 GHz and four ARM Cortex-A510 cores clocked at 1.8 GHz. On the GPU post we find the ARM Immortalis-G715. The new processor with these parameters received a total score of approximately 1260000 points in Antutu, which is extremely respectable.
MediaTek also says the Dimensity 9200 supports LPDDR5 RAM and UFS 4.0 storage. It also supports up to two displays with 5K resolution at 60 Hz refresh rate, WHQD at 144 Hz and FullHD+ at 240 Hz. There is also support for Miravision 980 technology for a more vivid display of content. The processor also includes the sixth generation AI NPU (APU 900) and Imagiq 890 ISP for native support of RGBW sensors. Among other things, Dimensity 9200 is the first chipset with Wi-Fi 7 support. Its integral part is also a built-in 5G modem to support sub-6GHz and mmWave connections. The first phones with this processor will go on the market before the end of this year, and the Vivo X90 phone is a hot candidate . Oppo, Xiaomi Honor, Asus and several others are also interested in it.
