The Dimensity 9200 will be introduced next month
MediaTek returned to the flagship processor market last year, and it must be said that its return was really successful. They introduced their premium chipset, the Dimensity 9000 , less than a month before the launch of the Snapdragon 8 Gen1 processor . It probably goes without saying that they were and still are two big competitors. The first benchmark tests even showed that the Dimensity 9000 Snapdragon performs well. And not only in performance, but also in price. MediaTek used TSMC's 4nm production technology, which proved to be clearly better than the same Samsung production technology. In June/June, MediaTek also released the Dimensity 9000 Plus chipset as a response to the Snapdragon 8+ Gen1, and now it is preparing another premium chipset called the Dimensity 9200.
Although Dimensity's flagship processors are powerful and more affordable than the same processors from Qualcomm's workshops, they are not used as often by smartphone manufacturers. But it is difficult to say why this is so. In any case, MediaTek will remain in the flagship sector and, according to tipsters' estimates, will launch another premium chipset, the Dimensity 9200, within the next month. Since it will be an interesting novelty, we can already find its first estimated specifications on Chinese Weibo .
Of course, the processor has eight cores and is built on TSMC's 4nm manufacturing process. It will be one of the first to receive ARM's high-performance Cortex-X3 core. This promises up to a 25% increase in performance compared to the ARM Cortex-X2 core. The tipster also states that we will find the new Immortalis G715 graphics on the GPU post. The other cores are said to be the same as the predecessors, meaning Cortex-A715 and Cortex-A510 cores. The architecture of the Dimensity 9200 is still under wraps, but even from this little we conclude that the Snapdragon 8 Gen2 has a strong competitor.
And when will the upcoming Dimensity 9200 appear in the first phones? The tipsters assume that this will happen already in December/December of this year. They expect some of the Vivo and Oppo phones to get it. But it is a question whether the processor will reach a greater extent beyond the borders of China, or whether it will end up like its predecessors and end up only in phones for the Chinese market.
