Xiaomi Mix Fold 2 debuted in China
Not only Motorola had its big day yesterday. The fans of Xiaomi also got in on the act, which exactly according to the previous plan presented several products on the Chinese market, and the main star of the party was the folding phone Xiaomi Mix Fold 2. It is already the second folding phone of the company and it must be said that it really succeeded. Compared to last year's model, we can find a lot of improvements here, starting with the design, through the photo equipment and up to the processor.
XIAOMI MIX FOLD 2 PHONE DESIGN
Let's start with the design of the Xiaomi Mix Fold 2 folding phone, because it is significantly different from last year's Fold. The rear panel is made of frosted glass, the main camera module is horizontal and stretches almost the entire width of the upper back. The folding hinge is very narrow, the weight of the phone is lower, the usable area of the internal screen has increased and overall the body is thinner. On the right edge is the volume rocker and the power button, which also doubles as a fingerprint sensor. The reader sensor comes from Goodix workshops. We will also add specific numbers, when the phone is 5.4 mm thick when unfolded, 11.2 mm when folded, and all this with a weight of 262 grams.
DISPLAYS
The external display of the Xiaomi Mix Fold 2 phone is of the E5 AMOLED type with a 6.5-inch diagonal, a resolution of 2520 × 1080 pixels and a refresh rate of 120 Hz. The screen supports HDR10+, Dolby Vision and a brightness of up to 1300 nits. The aspect ratio is 21:9 and there is also Gorilla Glass Victus protective glass.
The internal Eco² OLED display has a diagonal of 8.02 inches and a resolution of 2160 × 1914 pixels. The refresh rate is 120 Hz, the brightness reached 1400 nits and there is also support for HDR10+ and Dolby Vision. Xiaomi has also added a one-piece floating carbon fiber plate to the internal display to ensure a smooth screen surface with no visible transition at the folding point. The display is covered by UTG glass.
OTHER SPECIFICATIONS
The foldable phone Mix Fold 2 is powered, as usual, by the Snapdragon 8+ Gen1 processor. It is paired with 12 GB of operating memory and 256/512 GB and 1 TB of internal storage. There is also an improved cooling system for better heat dissipation. The battery has a capacity of 4500 mAh and supports fast charging with a power of 67 W. Connectivity is represented by 5G SA/NSA, dual 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 6E 802.11 ax, Bluetooth 5.2, GPS (L1/L5), NavIC, USB-C and NFC. There are also dual speakers with Dolby Atmos and Hi-Res Audio support. The operating system is Android 12 with MIUI 13 superstructure.
PHOTO EQUIPMENT, PRICES AND AVAILABILITY OF XIAOMI MIX FOLD 2
As already mentioned, the main camera module is placed horizontally. There are three sensors in it, and Leica company took care of the optics. The Sony IMX766 primary sensor has a 50 MP resolution, f/1.8 aperture and OIS support. The second 13 MP sensor functions as a wide-angle lens with a 123° field of view, and the last 8 MP sensor is a telephoto lens with 2x zoom. The camera is capable of recording video in 8K and also supports recording in Dolby Vision HDR format. The front camera has 20 MP.
Xiaomi Mix Fold 2 goes on the market in black and gold, pre-orders are already running, sales start on August 16/August. As for the prices, it must be said that it is not really a cheap phone and the prices of the individual memory versions are as follows. The 12GB/256GB version will come in at 8999 Yuan ($1335), the 12GB/512GB version costs 9999 Yuan ($1484), and the last 12GB/1TB version has a price tag of 11999 Yuan ($1780).
