Xiaomi 12S and 12S Pro are officially here
Yesterday, Xiaomi launched the Xiaomi 12S series of phones in the Chinese market , exactly as planned . There are a total of three phones introduced, namely Xiaomi 12S, 12S Pro and 12S Ultra. The new machines thus join the Xiaomi 12 and 12 Pro models, which debuted at the end of last year. Today we will first summarize the specifications of the standard model 12S and the model 12S Pro. We will look at the 12S Ultra model in a separate article.
XIAOMI 12S AND 12S PRO SPECIFICATIONS
Both phones have some parameters in common, but they differ in some. The difference can be found immediately in the displays. The standard Xiaomi 12S has a 6.28-inch OLED screen with a FullHD+ resolution and a refresh rate of 120 Hz. The display has a brightness of 1100 nits and supports HDR10+ and Dolby Vision. It is protected by Gorilla Glass Victus. On the contrary, the Pro version has a 6.73-inch E5 OLED display with a resolution of 3200 × 1440 pixels, a variable refresh rate from 1 Hz to 120 Hz and a brightness of up to 1500 nits. Here, too, there is support for HDR10+ and Dolby Vision, as well as Gorilla Glass Victus protective glass.
Both phones are powered by a premium Snapdragon 8+ Gen1 processor, and in both cases this chipset is complemented by 8/12 GB of RAM and 128/256/512 GB of internal storage. The Xiaomi 12S received a battery with a capacity of 4500 mAh and support for fast charging with a power of 67 W. The Pro model has a 4600 mAh battery and supports fast charging with a power of 120 W. Both machines also support 50 W wireless charging and 10 W wireless reverse charging. The phones also have a fingerprint sensor under the display and support Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 5.2, GPS (L1/L5), NFC, IR blaster and a USB-C port. The operating system is Android 12 with MIUI 13 superstructure.
PHOTO EQUIPMENT
It has long been no secret that Leica was involved in the camera optics of the Xiaomi 12S series phones. The photo equipment is therefore at an excellent level. The standard model has a triple main camera with a primary 50 MP Sony IMX707 sensor with OIS. There is also a 13MP wide-angle lens with a 123° field of view and a 5MP tele/macro lens. The pro model has the same primary sensor as the standard model, paired with a 50 MP Samsung JN1 wide-angle lens with a 115° field of view and another 50 MP Samsung JN1 sensor that works as a telephoto lens with 2x optical zoom. Both models have the same 32 MP sensor for the front camera.
The newly introduced phones are already in pre-order status and sales will start on July 6/July. Both new machines go on sale in black, purple, green and white. Their prices are as follows:
