Xiaomi 17 Series Launch: Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, OLED Displays, and Leica Cameras
Xiaomi 17 series has officially received a launch date, and fans don’t have long to wait. The company confirmed that the new lineup will debut in China on September 25, 2025. Alongside the smartphones, Xiaomi will also introduce its Pad 8 series, making the day an important milestone for the brand.
Three Flagships to Watch
The upcoming series includes three models: the Xiaomi 17, Xiaomi 17 Pro, and Xiaomi 17 Pro Max. All three will be powered by the highly anticipated Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor, set for release just two days earlier on September 23.
Xiaomi is already building hype by labeling the Xiaomi 17 as its “most powerful standard flagship.” Meanwhile, the Xiaomi 17 Pro is positioned as a “compact imaging flagship,” while the Xiaomi 17 Pro Max is being promoted as the “ultimate peak” of the company’s imaging technology.
Design and Display Upgrades
Leaks suggest the Xiaomi 17 and 17 Pro will come with 6.3-inch OLED displays featuring ultra-thin bezels. The larger Pro Max could push the screen size to 6.8 inches. All three are expected to offer 2K resolution OLED panels for sharp visuals and vibrant colors.
Interestingly, the Pro and Pro Max are rumored to feature a secondary rear display. This small panel will support quick notifications, AI interactions, multitasking features, and seamless cross-device functions—adding a futuristic touch to the series.
Battery and Charging Enhancements
Battery life appears to be another highlight of the Xiaomi 17 series. The base model is rumored to pack a 7,000mAh battery, while the Pro Max could step up with a massive 7,500mAh cell. Even the compact Pro edition is said to house a 6,300mAh battery with wireless charging support.
These capacities suggest Xiaomi is aiming to balance performance and longevity, ensuring users get all-day usage even with demanding apps and high-resolution displays.
Next-Gen Cameras with Leica Partnership
The Xiaomi 17 Pro and Pro Max are expected to showcase Xiaomi’s strongest imaging hardware yet. Both devices are rumored to feature a triple 50MP camera setup, anchored by the new SmartSens 590 sensor, accompanied by an ultra-wide lens and a periscope telephoto lens with macro support.
On the front, all three models will carry a 50MP selfie camera with autofocus. With Leica’s imaging optimization in the mix, users can expect flagship-level photography that challenges rivals like Samsung and Apple.
Xiaomi Pad 8 Series to Join the Launch
Alongside the Xiaomi 17 lineup, the brand will also launch the Xiaomi Pad 8 series. While fewer details are available, this tablet lineup is expected to complement the smartphones with cross-device features, especially in productivity and AI integration.
