Realme Update Policy Extended: What It Means for Users in 2025

Realme has quietly improved its software update strategy, marking a significant upgrade for owners of its newer smartphones. While this may not have made major headlines, it is important news for Realme users who value longer support and security.

What’s New with Realme Updates?

The Realme 15 series — including the Realme 15 and 15 Pro — along with select Realme 14 models such as the 14T, 14 Pro, and 14 Pro+, will now receive three Android OS updates instead of the previous two. Security updates have also been extended, now promised for four years instead of three.

Note that the Realme 14X has been excluded from this extended support list, meaning it will not receive the additional updates.

Full Support Confirmed for Android 15 and Beyond

All these supported models launched with Android 15, so realistically users can expect updates up to Android 18. This is impressive, especially for mid-range phones, which traditionally receive shorter software support.

Realme’s Francis Wong hinted that this extended update policy will continue for upcoming devices, including the Number Pro, Number, and Number T series. Additionally, announcements for the P series are expected soon, potentially expanding this extended update promise to even more devices.

Will Longer Updates Influence Buyers?

While longer software and security updates are desirable, it remains to be seen how much this will impact buying decisions. For Realme, this is a notable improvement compared to previous years, where update policies were less transparent or shorter.
