Huawei Nova 13 and Nova 13 Pro are here

Huawei has unveiled the successor to last year's Nova 12 series phones. The Huawei Nova 13 and Nova 13 Pro phones debuted on the Chinese market yesterday. Both new models feature an attractive design, improved cameras with artificial intelligence functionalities, and some other similar specifications. Let’s explore them in more detail.

Main Specifications of the Huawei Nova 13 Series Phones

The design of the Huawei Nova 13 series phones shares similarities, though there are some subtle differences. One noticeable distinction is in the main camera module's appearance. Both phones have an oval-shaped camera module, but the standard model features one large circle and two smaller ones, whereas the Pro version has four smaller bezels within the module. The front panels sport very narrow and symmetrical bezels. The Nova 13 has a classic circular "hole" for the front camera, centrally located at the top of the display, while the Pro variant comes with an oval-shaped "hole."

Performance and Hardware

Both the Huawei Nova 13 and Nova 13 Pro are powered by the same processor. Although the manufacturer hasn't specified the exact chipset, it is speculated to be the Kirin 8000. In both models, the chipset is coupled with 12 GB of RAM, and options for internal storage include 256 GB, 512 GB, or 1 TB. These devices run on Huawei's HarmonyOS 4.2, and each phone houses a 5000 mAh battery with support for 100W fast charging. Additional features include in-display fingerprint sensors, NFC, and Bluetooth 5.2 support.

Camera, Pricing, and Availability

The camera systems on the Huawei Nova 13 series vary. The standard Nova 13 is equipped with a dual-camera setup, featuring a primary 50 MPix RYYB sensor with Optical Image Stabilization (OIS) and an f/1.9 aperture. This is paired with an 8 MPix wide-angle lens with an f/2.2 aperture. The front camera has a 60 MPix sensor. On the other hand, the Pro model boasts a triple-camera configuration, with a 50 MPix primary sensor and a variable aperture ranging from f/1.4 to f/4.0. It is supported by a 12MP telephoto lens with 3x optical zoom and an 8MP wide-angle lens. Both models feature a 60 MPix front camera and include AI capabilities such as AI Best Expression, AI Upscaling, AI Object Removal, and AI Smart Cutout.
