From high-priced flagship phones, this article looks at the other end of the price spectrum. The Redmi A4 5G phone made its debut in the Indian market last week. And as we know, Redmi's A product line is reserved for affordable devices. One could therefore say that the new phone follows on from its predecessor, the A3 model, but that is not quite the case. It has one significant improvement—support for 5G networks.
Redmi brand representatives claim that the new Redmi A4 5G phone is a breakthrough among entry-level phones, offering users 5G connectivity at a low price. At the presentation, the manufacturer revealed that the phone is powered by a Snapdragon 4s Gen2 processor, which is based on 4nm production technology and supports 5G networks. Recently, details about its price and specifications have surfaced on the SmartPrix website.
Before we dive into the specifications of the Redmi A4 5G, let's discuss its pricing. The phone is priced at just 8499 Indian Rupees in the Indian market, equivalent to approximately $101. This makes it one of the cheapest phones with 5G support. Despite its low price, the design maintains a premium feel, featuring a large circular main camera module that enhances its aesthetics.
We have already mentioned the Snapdragon 4s Gen2 processor and 5G support. Notably, the Redmi A4 5G is the first phone in the Indian market to feature this chipset. The device is equipped with 4GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage. It boasts a 6.7-inch IPS LCD display with an HD+ resolution and a 90Hz refresh rate. Although the main camera module is substantial, it houses just one sensor with a 50MP resolution and an aperture of f/1.8. The front-facing camera is equipped with an 8MP sensor.
The Redmi A4 5G is powered by a 5000mAh battery that supports 18W fast charging. It features a side-mounted fingerprint sensor for convenient security. The phone runs on Android 14 with the HyperOS 1.0 superstructure, providing a smooth user experience.
