Motorola Edge X30 vs iQOO 9 Pro
Among the first companies to launch a flagship with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 mobile platform, there are two companies that many people would never expect. Motorola is not one of the first smartphone companies, however it released the first device with the best Qualcomm chipset for 2022. Another device emerged from Vivo's subsidiary, iQOO . Vivo has not yet released a phone with this processor, but its subsidiary has already done so. The Motorola Edge X30 and the iQOO 9 Pro share an important audience: an aggressive price tag. This will help these companies to rise to the top. This is a comparison that will highlight the differences between their specifications.

In my opinion, the iQOO 9 Pro has the most attractive design for two reasons. First of all, it has a nicely curved screen on the sides and a very high screen-to-body ratio of close to 90 percent. In addition, it comes with a very original glass back, especially in the BMW M Motorsport Edition that comes with the iconic BMW M Motorsport colors. On the other hand, the Motorola Edge X30 is still a good choice with its beautiful aesthetics and its water-repellent body protected by Gorilla Glass 5. However, the Motorola Edge X30 is less impressive because it has a lower screen-to-body ratio and flat screen.
The screen of the iQOO 9 Pro is actually higher than that found on the Motorola Edge X30. It is an AMOLED display with LTPO technology (adjustable refresh rate from 1 to 120Hz for low power consumption), one billion colors, HDR10 + certification, Dolby Vision and Quad HD + 1440 x 3200 pixels resolution, as well as a fast and accurate screen fingerprint scanner . The Motorola Edge X30 is equipped with an excellent panel: a billion-color OLED display, an even higher refresh rate of 144Hz, HDR10 + certification and an on-screen fingerprint reader. However, due to the lower Full HD + resolution and the absence of other advanced technologies such as LTPO and Dolby Vision, it loses in comparison.
As already mentioned, the iQOO 9 Pro and Motorola Edge X30 are powered by the same chipset: the octa-core Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 running at a maximum frequency of 3 GHz. The SoC combines with up to 12GB of RAM and UFS 3.1 technology, but with the iQOO 9 Pro, you can get more internal storage: up to 512GB instead of just 256GB. This is what makes the difference between the hardware of these devices. The operating system installed on both devices is Android 12, adapted to Origin OS Ocean and MYUI, respectively.
If you need the best cameras, then you should go for the iQOO 9 Pro without thinking twice. It has a 50MP main sensor with gimbal stabilization that is really superior to the classic OIS systems. It adds a 50 MP wide-angle camera with 150 ° wide FOV, as well as a telephoto sensor with 16 MP resolution, OIS and 2.5x optical zoom. The Motorola Edge X30 also has a 50MP main sensor and a 50MP wide-angle camera but with a lower FOV. The telephoto lens is being replaced by a useless 2MP macro camera, but the front camera is actually better at 60MP resolution.
The battery of the Motorola Edge X30 is larger with a capacity of 5000mAh and is able to provide longer life. But the iQOO 9 Pro supports faster 120W charging and, unlike the Edge X30, it even supports wireless charging.
The price of the iQOO 9 Pro translates roughly to € 795, while you need just € 420 for the Motorola Edge X30. The iQOO flagship beats the comparison thanks to the better screen and superior cameras, but the Motorola flagship offers better value for money.
