Google Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro officially unveiled

After long months of waiting, we finally got the official presentation of the new generation of Pixel phones yesterday. Again, Google isn't aiming for the full high-end segment with the new pair, but their phones look better and better with each generation. The current one may not bring breakthrough revolutionary changes, but it is excellent pieces for relatively reasonable money. So let's take a closer look at the equipment and design of the new Pixel 7 and Pixel 7.

DESIGN 

Even with the new generation of phones, the creators left the typical "belt" on the back of the phone, on which the camera sensors are located. You can really recognize the pixels at first glance. Otherwise, the design is very similar to the previous series and only the colors are completely new. Both models share black (Volcanic Black) and white (Snow), Pixel 7 Pro will offer a special grey-green (Hazel) and Pixel 7 greenish (Lemongrass). The phones have less accentuated edge curves and visually look a bit thinner. Although still with 8.9 mm or 8.7 mm, it is not anorexic.

DISPLAY 

The larger Pixel 7 Pro boasts a 6.7-inch LTPO OLED panel with a QHD+ resolution (3120 x 1440 pixels) and a 120 Hz refresh rate. The Pixel 7 then has to make do "only" with a 6.3-inch OLED panel with FullHD+ (2400 x 1080 pixels) and 90 Hz. However, the common feature is increased brightness, which reaches up to 1000 nits with HDR or 1400 nits maximum. Likewise, we will get HDR support or full 24-bit color depth. Of course, the displays are capable of the Always-On function and are covered by Gorilla Glass Victus protective glass. The fingerprint reader is then built right into the display.

CHIPSET AND EQUIPMENT 

The new generation of Pixels is also the premiere of the new Tensor G2 chipset. This is common to both models and is a 4 nm piece with a 2+2+4 cluster design. It also includes a TPU chip for machine learning or the Titan M2 security co-processor. And the increase in performance compared to the previous generation should reach up to 60%. However, the memory sizes differ, where the Pixel 7 Pro gets 12 GB of LPDDR5 RAM and 128/256/512 GB of UFS3.1 internal memory, and the Pixel 7 only gets 8 GB of LPDDR5 RAM and 128/256 GB of UFS3.1. Connectivity is the maximum possible and nothing from modern technologies is missing. The stereo speakers, three microphones with surround recording and especially the durable IP68 certification will also please you. Of course, the phones have Android 13 and the promise of five years of updates, including three generations. The built-in free VPN is also worth mentioning.

BATTERY AND CHARGING 

The battery capacities also look very decent with 4355 mAh for the Pixel 7 and 5000 mAh for the Pixel 7 Pro. In addition, the creators also promise new optimizations and saving functions for the OLED display. Only the charging is still not radically fast and 30W is not really impressive for today. On the other hand, we get at least 20W or 23W wireless charging with the official Pixel Stand.

CAMERAS 

The performance of the cameras is probably the main thing that interests potential applicants. Pixels have always taken really great photos, and the new generation only underlines that. The basic Pixel 7, however, received essentially the same photo equipment as the Pixel 6. That is, a 50 MP sensor supplemented by a 12 MP ultra-wide, all with laser focusing and optical stabilization. That Pixel 7 Pro will improve everything by 48 MP additional telephoto sensor with 5x optical and 30x hybrid zoom. Both have a 10.8 MP selfie ultra-wide camera. We will be very curious about the test results, because the Pro model in particular will drive absolute high-end pieces.

PRICE AND AVAILABILITY 

European official prices start at 649 euros (base version) and 899 euros (Pixel 7 Pro). And you will be able to buy them from October 13. So how do you like the new Pixels?
