Huawei is preparing another clamshell phone
Huawei is planning an event in China on September 6, where it will launch the Huawei Mate 50 series phones. It will certainly be a big event for Chinese fans of the company. Less so for us, the company's global supporters. The phones again do not support 5G networks and Google services. The tipsters expect the release of a total of four models, not all of which must fall into the Mate 50 series. This is speculation, but maybe Huawei will surprise us. The folding clamshell phone, which is strikingly reminiscent of last year's P50 Pocket model , passed Tenaa certification .
TENAA SHOWS THE DESIGN OF HUAWEI'S FOLDABLE PHONE
Last year's clamshell model Huawei P50 Pocket caught the eye with its really cool design, especially with the luxurious gold variant. It was designed by the well-known haute couture designer Iris Van Herpen and it is clear at first glance that it is intended for women. However, even this folding piece does not support 5G and Google services. It was still successful in the Chinese market, so it is not surprising that the manufacturer wants to continue the clamshell phone trend.
Perhaps that is also why images of a Huawei clamshell phone codenamed BAL-AL80 appeared on the website of the Chinese certification authority Tenaa. However, the specifications are not available in the list at the moment, and the certifiers will probably add them soon. Nevertheless, we can find that the battery capacity has reached 4260 mAh. It is therefore quite large for a clamshell phone, and let's remember that last year's Pocket had a 260 mAh smaller battery.
The images show the phone's back panel to be dual-tone, with a circular main camera module in the top left corner. It has three sensors and an LED flash. This main camera design is basically identical to last year's clamshell. We remind you again that the number of sensors is the same as last year, when the main camera contained a 40 MP primary sensor, a 13 MP wide-angle lens and a special 32 MP Ultra Spectrum sensor. Anyway, let's wait until the certifiers add the specifications of this phone to the list, which will certainly be interesting. And that's why it's a shame that in global markets this Huawei machine doesn't threaten the great competitor Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 4. The absence of 5G and Google services is a rather big handicap.
