Qualcomm is preparing a Snapdragon 6 Gen1 processor
At the end of last year , Qualcomm introduced the Snapdragon 8 Gen1 processor. It probably goes without saying that this is the flagship processor for premium phones and is the first chipset with a new name. At the same time, the manufacturer also stated that the new name is uniform even for mid- and basic-class chipsets. And processors for wearables are marked in the same spirit. The Snapdragon 8 Gen1 processor is built on 4nm manufacturing technology with the latest ARMv9 architecture.
In May/May of this year, Qualcomm also introduced the Snapdragon 7 Gen1 chipset for mid-range phones, along with the Snapdragon 8+ Gen1 with improved performance and lower power consumption. Let's add that both of these chipsets are again based on a modern 4 nm lithography base. At that time, we suspected that Qualcomm was certainly preparing a chipset for entry-level phones. It is logical that this processor is labeled Snapdragon 6 Gen1.
QUALCOMM ANNOUNCES THE PARAMETERS OF THE SNAPDRAGON 6 GEN1 PROCESSOR
Well-known tipster Evan Blass reports on Twitter that Qualcomm is working on a chipset for entry-level phones . At the same time, he shares the specifications that the Snapdragon 6 Gen1 will get. The main one is probably that this chipset is also built on the 4nm production process and its code name is SM6450. It will be the successor to the Snapdragon 695 chipset. It has Kryo computing cores with a clock speed of up to 2.2 GHz and supports up to 12 GB of LPDDR5 operating memory with a frequency of up to 2750 MHz.
The Snapdragon X62 5G modem with 5G mmWave and sub-6 GHz band support is ready for connectivity. Other connectivity options include Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 5.2, USB 3.1, GPS, BeiDou, Glonass, Galileo and QZSS. Furthermore, the processor supports displays with a refresh rate of up to 120 Hz and FullHD+ resolution. As for the photo equipment, we can find support for a triple 13 MP camera or a dual 25 MP and 16 MP camera, or one 48 MP sensor. Furthermore, there is support for video recording in 4K HDR at 30 FPS and Slow-motion video in 270p/240 FPS resolution. We do not yet know when Qualcomm will present the processor, but it may debut together with the Snapdragon 8 Gen2 chipset.
