The Honor Magic V is the thinnest flexible phone on the market

So we finally saw another big player in the field of flexible phones, because the Chinese Honor today introduced its premier model in this category. And the Magic V performed at first glance in a very good light, as it is the thinnest flexible phone currently available on the market. When folded, it has a thickness of 14.3 mm and when unfolded, only 6.7 mm. The new technology of a flexible "drip" hinge is also great, where it is almost impossible to recognize the divide. In addition, it is said to last up to 10 years with an average opening of 50 times a day.

When unfolded, the phone's display is 7.9 inches and offers an almost square 10: 9 aspect ratio with a resolution of 2272 x 1984 pixels. This is, of course, an OLED panel, but "only" with a 90 Hz refresh rate and 800 brightness rivets, or HDR10 + support. Surprisingly better is the curved external display, which has a 6.45-inch and an extended aspect ratio of 21: 9 with a FullHD resolution of 2560 x 1080 pixels. It has 120 Hz and up to 1000 nits of brightness. An interesting swap, because the competition usually relies on the reverse order of quality. For the first time, we are also seeing a flexible phone with IMAX Enhanced certification.

However, thanks to the curved nanocrystalline glass, the Honor Magic V should be very durable. This will certainly be helped by the construction of an alloy of highly resistant titanium, zirconium metals and highly resistant carbon fibers. There is also no shortage of performance, because inside is the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 with 12 GB of RAM and 256/512 GB of internal memory. Graphene cooling is supposed to be up to standard, but we'll see how it handles the "hot" beast. The battery then has a capacity of 4750 mAh and can charge fast 66W. The Magic UI 6.0 system can also use the multi-window mode, which will definitely come in handy with a flexible phone.

The set of cameras also looks very solid, because the main one has three 50 Mpx sensors. The primary 50 Mpx bit (f / 1.9) is complemented by a 50 Mpx ultra-wide (f / 2.2) and 50 Mpx "spectrally enhanced" lens (f / 2.0), which should take care of better images, even in fog. There are two selfie cameras, one for each display and they have the same resolution of 42 Mpx.

The Honor Magic V will be available in silver, black and orange and, of course, only on the domestic Chinese market. He will definitely look into the world, but it is not yet certain when. The prices are not bad compared to the competition. The basic 12GB + 256GB version comes in at $ 1,568 and the higher 12GB + 512GB variant at $ 1,725. Nothing popular, but that's just the reality with flexible phones.
