Google Pixel foldable smartphone will be released in 2022

9to5Google employees have found information about the first Google smartphone with a flexible display in the code of the new version of the Google Camera app. The device is currently called Google Pixel Fold 5G.

The device is expected to be manufactured in book form. It will get a flexible internal screen and an auxiliary display on the outside of the case. Several cameras will be installed: we were able to extract information from the application code about them.

According to available data, the Google Pixel Fold 5G will be lower than the Google Pixel 6 Pro (shown in the image), depending on the sensor used. Specifically, the main camera includes a 12.2-megapixel Sony IMX363 sensor. For comparison, the Google Pixel 6 Pro has a 50-megapixel Samsung GN1.

In addition, the camera on the flexible smartphone will receive a 12-megapixel unit of ultra-wide-angle optics based on the Sony IMX386 sensor. We're talking about having two selfie cameras - one for the outdoor screen and the other indoors. They will both get an 8-megapixel Sony IMX355 sensor.

Google is also reported to be launching a flexible smartphone next year, but a more exact release date is yet to be known.
