Several smartphone manufacturers are gearing up to release new flagship models by the end of the year. The Redmi brand is no exception, with the highly anticipated Redmi K80 series in the pipeline. This lineup will include two models: the standard Redmi K80 and the premium K80 Pro.
Rumors about the upcoming Redmi K80 phones have been circulating for a while, with tipsters suggesting significant upgrades in specifications. New details about the devices have recently surfaced on Chinese social media platform Weibo.
Redmi's senior manager, Wang Teng Thomas, recently commented on the K80 series, indicating that the phones will see substantial improvements not just in performance but also in another yet-to-be-specified area. He hinted that in this aspect, the K80 models will outshine competitors. While he did not provide a specific release date, he advised those planning to buy a new premium phone to wait until the end of this year.
Another well-known tipster, Digital Chat Station, mentioned that while the Redmi K80 series will feature notable upgrades, there will also be an increase in price—particularly for the Pro model. The K80 Pro is rumored to be powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8 Elite processor, previously referred to as the Snapdragon 8 Gen4.
The higher pricing may be attributed to the improved specifications, including a larger battery and faster charging capabilities. As Redmi phones often share features with their Poco F series counterparts, any price adjustments may also affect these rebranded models.
Stay tuned for more updates as we approach the official launch of the Redmi K80 series.
