Oppo Find N5 & OnePlus Open 2: What to Expect from the Next-Gen Foldable Phones

Last year, Oppo introduced its next foldable phone, the Find N3. Shortly after, OnePlus launched its first-ever foldable phone, branded as the OnePlus Open, for global markets. While the OnePlus Open was a rebranded version of the Oppo Find N3, which remained exclusive to China, fans of both brands are now eagerly anticipating the successors of these foldable devices—namely, the Oppo Find N5 and OnePlus Open 2.

Anticipated Release Dates

The release date for OnePlus' next foldable phone is somewhat uncertain. While some industry tipsters expected it to debut this fall, others now suggest it may not arrive until next year. The delay is reportedly due to OnePlus equipping the new device with a Snapdragon 8 Gen4 processor, a move that could push the launch into 2025.

Oppo Find N5: Expected Specifications

The reliable tipster Digital Chat Station has shared insights into the Oppo Find N5. They claim the phone will also launch next year, aligning with the OnePlus foldable's timeline. Following Oppo's tradition of omitting the number 4 due to superstitions, the successor to the Find N3 will be dubbed the Find N5.

Here are some of the rumored key specifications:

• Processor: Snapdragon 8 Gen4 flagship chipset, possibly making the Find N5 the first foldable phone with this processor if it launches in early 2025.
• Displays: Both the internal and external displays are expected to feature a 2K+ resolution.
• Camera: The triple camera setup includes a primary 50 MP Sony sensor, complemented by a periscopic telephoto lens housed in a large circular module.
• Design: The phone is rumored to have a thickness just over 9 mm, making it impressively slim for a foldable. It is also expected to be lightweight and feature improved water resistance.
• Additional Features: A three-stage sliding Alert button may also be included, adding to the phone's versatility.
