Google Pixel 9: Compact Powerhouse
The Google Pixel 9 is the base model of the series, offering a sleek design and robust features. The rear panel design has been refined from its predecessor, the Pixel 8, with the main camera module now featuring a distinct oval shape that houses two sensors and an LED flash. The display, a 6.3-inch AMOLED with a 2424 × 1080 resolution, offers vibrant colors and smooth visuals with a 120 Hz refresh rate and 2700 nits of peak brightness. Gorilla Glass Victus 2 ensures durability.
Under the hood, the Pixel 9 is powered by the Tensor G4 chipset, coupled with 12GB of LPDDR5X RAM and either 128GB or 256GB of UFS 3.1 storage. Connectivity options include 5G, Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 5.3, and more. The device also features an in-display ultrasonic fingerprint sensor, IP68 water and dust resistance, and a 4700 mAh battery with 27W fast charging and 15W wireless charging. Running on Android 14, Google promises seven years of software updates and enhanced AI capabilities with Gemini AI.
The camera system includes a 50 MP primary sensor with OIS and a 48 MP wide-angle lens that doubles as a macro camera. The front-facing camera is a 10.5 MP shooter. The Pixel 9 is available in Obsidian, Porcelain, Peony, and Wintergreen, with pre-orders open in Europe and the U.S.
Google Pixel 9 Pro: Enhanced Performance
The Pixel 9 Pro builds on the foundation of the Pixel 9, adding more advanced features and a slightly different design. The main camera module now houses three sensors, including a temperature sensor. The 6.3-inch AMOLED LTPO display offers a higher resolution of 2856 x 1280 pixels and a dynamic refresh rate ranging from 1 Hz to 120 Hz, with a peak brightness of 3000 nits.
The Pixel 9 Pro is equipped with the same Tensor G4 processor but upgrades to 16GB of RAM. It also supports Circle to Search, Pixel Screenshots, and Reimagine features, all enhanced by the Gemini AI. The battery capacity remains at 4700 mAh, but with faster 45W wired charging and 21W wireless charging.
The camera system on the Pixel 9 Pro includes a 50 MP primary sensor, along with two 48 MP sensors—one wide-angle and one telephoto with 5x optical zoom. The front camera is upgraded to a 42 MP sensor. Available in Obsidian, Hazel, Rose Quartz, and Porcelain, the Pixel 9 Pro is ready for pre-order.
Google Pixel 9 Pro XL: Bigger and Better
The Google Pixel 9 Pro XL is the largest and most powerful model in the series, offering all the premium features of the Pixel 9 Pro but with a significantly larger 6.8-inch AMOLED LTPO display. With a resolution of 2992 × 1344 pixels, the XL model caters to users who prefer larger screens, without compromising on quality, as it also boasts a 120 Hz refresh rate and 3000 nits of brightness.
Internally, the Pixel 9 Pro XL mirrors the Pixel 9 Pro with the Tensor G4 processor, 16GB of RAM, and storage options up to 512GB. The larger body allows for a bigger 5060 mAh battery, supporting 45W wired and 23W wireless charging.
The camera setup remains consistent with the Pro model, featuring a 50 MP primary sensor and two 48 MP sensors for wide-angle and telephoto shots. The front camera is also 42 MP. The Pixel 9 Pro XL is available in the same color options as the Pro model and is available for pre-order now.
