HMD makes itself known again. It has already launched several phones under its brand and one of the latest is the Skyline model . However, none of them are available in the Indian market yet. This is changing now with the launch of the HMD Crest and Crest Max phones in India. Both phones are affordable, have the same design and essentially the same specifications, although there are minor differences. So let's take a closer look at them.
The design of the HMD Crest and Crest Max phones is simple. In the upper left corner of the flat back panel we see a smaller rectangular main camera module with two or three sensors and an LED flash. The front panel is also flat, the side bezels are quite narrow, the top bezel and chin are slightly wider. In the center of the upper part of the display is a "hole" for the front camera. The display is the same in both cases. It is of the OLED type, has a diagonal of 6.67 inches, a resolution of 2400 × 1080 pixels and a refresh rate of 90 Hz.
Also, the new HMD Crest and Crest Max phones have the same processor. It is a Unisoc T760 chipset built on 6nm production technology with Mali-G57 MC4 GPU. And in connection with the processor, we come across the first difference. The Crest model received 6 GB of RAM and 128 GB of internal storage for the chipset. The Max model has 8 GB of RAM and 256 GB of internal memory. Connectivity is represented by 5G SA/NSA, dual 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 ac (2.4 GHz/5 GHz), Bluetooth 5.0, GPS, GLONASS, USB-C and 3.5 mm audio jack. The fingerprint sensor is located on the edges of the phones.
The battery of the HMD Crest series phones is also the same. It has a capacity of 5000 mAh and supports fast charging with a power of 33 W. The operating system is Android 14. The manufacturer adds that both phones are characterized by easy repairability, including simple replacement of the battery, back cover or even the charging port. The last item in the list of specifications is the photo equipment. And here we find the second difference between the phones. The HMD Crest model has a dual main camera with 50 MPix and 2 MPix sensors. In the Crest Max model, we find a 64 MPix primary sensor, a 5 MPix wide-angle lens and a 2 MPix macro lens. The front camera has a 50 MPix sensor in both cases.
The first of the phones is going to the Indian market in Midnight Blue, Royal Pink and Lush Lilac colors and with a 6GB/128GB storage configuration. Its price is set at 14499 Indian Rupees, which is roughly $173. The Max model is sold in Deep Purple, Royal Pink and Aqua Green colors in the 8GB/256GB storage version with a price tag of INR 16,499, roughly $197. Sales will kick off next month at the Amazon Great India Freedom event.
